Default Clay Bar

So I am going to do the McGuire clay kit on both Vs to get them ready for the summer. A few thoughts that I have are: 1.Make sure you only move the bar horizontally to the ground. 2.Keep the area of treatment wet with the liquid that came with it. 3.Use kit after washing. 4.Wipe off excess stuff with clean soft rag. 5.Wax directly after. Please post any comments or suggestions that you may have that will make this experience most pleasurable for myself and the Vs. Thanks, Steve.

Any of these three should be more than adequate references to make sure you are comfortable claying your V's!

Default Scary

Those links were great, thanks. It is a bit scary to hear that you can ruin the paint or at least scratch it. I bought the entire McGuires kit that contained everything that I will need. Well, about a week or so I will try it and hopefully be as pleased with the results as you all are. I was surprised to read in one of the articles that you should also use a pre wax cleaner. I usually use a pre wax cleaner to remove any bugs or residue that has caked on there between the last washing. Hey any and all comments and suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated. Steve.

as to the pre-wax cleaner - that's so you don't use the clay to pick up gritty residues from bugs or tar. It's all about minimizing the chance of grabbing something 'large' and rubbing some section of your car with it.

If you have black paint (or any dark color, really), always going from front-to-back (horizontal) will produce less-noticeable micro-scratches than if you clay (or wax or polish or dry) in circular motions.

If you have white or silver, not so important, as they won't be noticed.

This stinks I'd love to do this, but it will make my already keyed CR-V look even worse . . .

Oh well.

Default 2000 Done

I did my 2000 this weekend and am beside myself with the results. I followed all of the directions that I read here and on the box, and boy was it an easy and satisfying experience. Oh, so the next morning I walk out my side door, and slip on my back all the way down 8 stairs, Happy Fathers Day. The next morning besides the intense pain in my back and all over, I discover poison ivy everywhere from my son's first dirt bike race 2 days before. Just thought that you all would like to know what has been going on. Well thanks for the advise and again I have a bunch of digital pictures but no place to put them for you all to see. What can we do as far as posting some of them up for admiring eyes to view? HAHA, J/K. Steve
