Looking at the update cycle for the past three generations, I don't think there will be many changes (if any) until the mid-cycle refresh hits. That probably won't happen until the 2014 or 2015 model year.

my engine wishes,

k23a1 w/6sp mt
j37a5 w/6sp mt (the Honda odessy gets a v6)
N22B w/ 6sp mt

until they swap the k24 for something fresh ill be keeping my 02 /5sp mt

kinda boring when they have had the same engine choice for 10 years...

Even though they've been using the K24 in the USA since the 2002 model year, the horsepower and torque has continued to increase every couple of years.
2002 CR-V K24:
Power: 160 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 162 lb·ft @ 5200 rpm

2012 CR-V K24
Power: 185 HP @ 7000 rpm
Torque: 163 lbs·ft @ 4400 rpm

And it's unlikely that there would be any major change in CR-V engine before 2017, although I would expect a few more horses in 2015.

And while non-US markets get manual transmission versions of the CR-V, American Honda Motor Corp has made the decision to only provide automatics for the 2007+ CR-Vs. I don't expect that to change, which is why I bought a used 2006 manual in 2009.

And a quick search for the K23A1 looks like it's the turbocharged engine that was only used in the RDX, and it has now been dropped for a 6 cylinder in the newest RDX.
And the J37 is a 6 cylinder, which I doubt we'll see in a CR-V.

And while I like the idea of a diesel engine in the CR-V, and they do sell a CR-V in Europe with a 2.2l i-DTEC diesel engine, the engine doesn't meet the US EPA requirements.

You won't see the J37, but you might see the turbo four from the RDX, since it's now orphaned.

sadly the manual is accross the board for auto manufactures, the general public likes slush boxes, so if we where lucky we would get the semi automatic feature before a stick.

and i didn't know the k23 was dropped, interesting

as for the j37 i saw a j35 conversion done to a tsx, and it was almost 100% bolt in after a sub-frame swap
http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98559&page=4

as for the diesel and emissions... if vw can keep up with them i see no reason Honda can't...

and look at those numbers you posted, 800rpm off the torque and 1000rpm on the hp.

they bumped the compression, added the tsx rods(gives it the higher red line) and changed the cams(and possibly head) so they can avertise better numbers(dont get my wrong 800rpm off the torque is awesome for a suv) but what my point is they gained torque but lost usable hp.

but my point was keeping realistic engine options that Honda has sitting on the shelves already that could easily be adapted to the crv.

But since they sell so few CR-Vs, why would they offer them with multiple engine options?

Honda would gain towing users with diesel since they'll never go for a V6 or V8 large displacement unit. However, they need to get an outsourced, durable automatic transmission for it.

Not as exciting as possible engine or transmission changes, and it's probably way too late for adding to the 2013 models, but Honda did announce it will add Apple's iOS 6 Siri's "Eyes Free" controls to their lineup.

Automotive News: GM, Honda, Toyota and Audi eye Apple's Siri voice command technology.

Quote:
A new Siri feature, called "Eyes Free," will help drivers use their iPhones while keeping their eyes on the road by allowing iPhone owners to control more of the device's functions with Siri with the screen off to mitigate distracted driving. The Eyes Free feature will be released as part of Apple's latest version of its mobile operating software due out this fall.

"A number of auto manufacturers have committed to delivering Eyes Free Siri integration in the next 12 months," Scott Forstall, Apple's senior vice president of iOS software, said during a keynote speech at the conference as a screen behind him showed the logos of GM, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, Honda, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz and Audi.
Quote:
American Honda spokesman Alicia Jones said that the new Siri Eyes Free feature would be "extensively applied" to coming Honda and Acura vehicles. Jones declined to say when Honda planned to launch the technology, but said Honda would announce more about it by the end of the year.

Honda had a V6 turbo-diesel in development, but Ito cancelled it.
